Zanzibar
About This Spot
Step into Zanzibar on Seel Street and you’re immediately wrapped in an energy that balances the buzz of a night out with moments of genuine connection. This isn’t a sprawling, impersonal club, but rather a compact live music bar where the voices, instruments, and laughter blend seamlessly into the fabric of the space. The mood is lively yet comfortably grounded—a place where the crowd moves with the music rather than against it.
The atmosphere calls for music lovers who appreciate close-up gigs and the spontaneous joy that comes with discovering local and touring bands under one roof. The sound system delivers every note clearly, filling the room without overwhelming it, making sure you catch the crispness of a guitar riff or the warmth of a vocalist’s tone.
Navigating the space, you find spots ranging from standing near the stage to elevated seating that offers a relaxed perch over the unfolding night. The venue’s attention to detail is quietly evident—from the spotless restrooms to the thoughtful safety measures—showing care beyond the music. Drinks flow at approachable prices, inviting you to linger, whether you’re savoring a well-poured beer or something a little stronger, though the experience occasionally hints at charming quirks, like unusual glassware choices, that add character without detracting from the fun.
While the pace can pick up as bands take the stage, Zanzibar maintains a friendly, unhurried vibe fostered by approachable staff and an intimate setting where smiles are easy and moments feel shared. It’s a place where different evenings might bring a goth-themed gathering or an indie night, catering to an eclectic crowd eager to revel in their chosen scene.
For those who find joy in vibrant yet welcoming nightlife experiences, Zanzibar stands out as a timely invitation to embrace the night, grounded in music and human connection.

Great atmosphere, good beer, good bands. Can't fault it.

Everything was fine, it was a safe place. The sound system was good. There were necessary precautions. The perfectly cleaned toilet was very appreciated and comfortable. It was a nice atmosphere. But the presentation of tequila without lemon and salt and the funny small glass was distressing and unpleasant.

Good little venue to see live bands. It kept nice and cool even with a full crowd to see the band. Drinks are reasonably priced and staff are friendly. Only recommendation is to have more staff on at the bar when events are on as there were only 2 on when we went and it took half an hour to get served
